Up until five years ago, I had lived all my life in England, which is quite a health conscious country these days, though more in theory than practice. In the early 1980's, though, nearly all doctors dismissed, in public at least, any connection between food and health, with just a few notable exceptions such as fat and cholestrol.

By and large, though, if you showed any interest in diet and health, or alternative therapies that involved food supplements, herbs or some exotic plant substance, then your GP would likely roll his eyes as if everything to do with those topics was for residents of cloud cuckoo land only.

It was frustrating at the time, as my young son was clearly suffering from food intolerances that affected both his health and behaviour. It always struck me that the approach of the medical profession then lacked one thing: common sense. The human body depends on what it consumes, through food, drink, absorption and breathing. Was it not common sense to think that all of those things could have an effect on health?

Fortunately there were some medical professionals around who started to see the light in the 1980's, and far more so now. At least there is far more good advice around now regarding diet, the links between health and food, and the possible use of natural substances to aid good health.

Scientists too have been taking food and health more seriously over recent years, and of course for professional reasons doctors will only recommend what has been scientifically proven. There is good reason, too, for the average consumer to research any available science behind any of the supplements or so called superfoods. As with many things, there is a lot of hype and many bad products around, so it should be a two stage process for the consumer. First, consider the research, and second find a good supplier of any natural product you decide to try.

As with any health related matter, you should discuss any medical problems with your doctor first. He may be aware of research in alternative medicines and diet for your complaint; importantly, he may be aware of any potential problems caused by a supplement you may be considering, especially as it may mix with any prescribed drug you may be taking. Even some essential oils should not be used with certain conditions, so self education, in conjunction with your doctor, are imperative.

You can also mix yogurt with the juice from a cucumber. Cucumbers are so good for a person’s face, and that is why many put cucumber slices on their face. Apply this blend for about 30 minutes and then rinse off. Do this each night for a week with either blend  and you will see great results after seven days.

If you are looking to pull the blackheads right out of the pore then using honey or oatmeal as mask is the ideal method. Once they have hardened you can simply peel the mask off and the blackheads will peel right out of the pore as you are pulling the mask off. This will also bring a lot of dirt and oil off the skin at the identical time, as well as remove dead cells. Some do not like to use this because it takes a little getting used to pulling the mask off, but you will discovery your face will be clean and a lot tighter. A Natural Diet Solution Doesn’t Have to Taste Bad

Can a natural diet solution really work for those of you that are looking to get rid of that excess weight you carry around? Wouldn’t it just be easier to take a weight loss pill or just stop eating altogether? I mean, “natural diet solution” makes it sound like you have to eat tofu and soy and sprouts.

I’ll skip the tofu…

The term ‘natural’ does make a lot of us think that our diet would consist of pine nuts and tofu burgers. But this is really a misnomer. When considering diet solutions, the term ‘natural’ doesn’t have to mean tofu and soy and pine nuts. A natural diet really consists of every day foods that we consume all of the time. What matters is the way we eat these foods.

If you are one of those unlucky people that struggle to keep the weight down, there really is hope! Much of our diet consists of foods that really don’t compliment each other. Some foods just shouldn’t be combined if our goal is to eat healthy and look trim. Most of us enjoy a good steak with a baked potato covered with butter and sour cream. But if we are looking to stave off that ugly belly flab, then this is a meal that adds to the flab. This would not be a natural diet solution.

Can you add some extra trans-fatty stuff to that?

To be totally honest, some foods should not be eaten. Our bodies do not assimilate every edible thing on the planet. So we really need to identify those foods that our bodies either do not, or have difficulty, assimilating. If our bodies don’t assimilate some foods very well, then the chances are extremely high that these foods are clogging up our system. If the system gets clogged, then elimination becomes a problem, not to mention that some of these foods just can’t be eliminated. Some fats are good for us to eat while others clog our arteries. Some fats do not leave and really aren’t welcome! We would all do well not to invite them into our bodies in the first place!

Should I leave a tip?

A natural diet solution will look at the content of the foods we eat and allow us to determine if this is right for us or not. For instance, foods that are high in sugar content are sometimes okay to eat by themselves. The danger comes when we combine high sugar foods with almost anything else. Also, we really should stay away from anything white (except for fish and vegetables). Flour, mayo, wheat. These really aren’t doing anything for our weight loss goals. Shrimp and lobster are very tasty, but our bodies do not do a good job of breaking them down and eliminating them. So you are better to stay away from them. Besides, they are bottom feeders and are really full of crap!

All natural foods are especially critical to diet, weight loss and pretty much our overall well being. Maybe you’ve heard the term, “you are what you eat” and if so, then why not feed our bodies with whole all natural foods. So what exactly are the foods we should eat in an all natural diet?

All natural food is the food we eat in its purest form. By purest form I mean it is food that is unprocessed and unrefined. Let’s not get all natural confused with organic. It is true that much of the food you eat is or will be eating are grown organically, that term refers to how it was originally grown and cultivated. The growing procedure is free of any added chemicals or pesticides in the soil or sprayed on the food. This is also critical but not the purpose of this article.

All natural foods which are regularly called whole foods, do not just involve fruits and vegetables, but those are two extremely important members. There are more kinds of food like fish, unprocessed meats, poultry and even non-homogenized milk which are all natural. These kinds of foods are also thought to be whole natural foods.

So as you can see, starting an all natural diet doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going to have to make extreme changes to your eating habits. The major change is going to be the manner you grocery shop. It makes it a bit simpler if you have a natural food store close by like Whole Foods or a Co-op, but it is not required. Several of bigger grocery stores are beginning to be aware of the importance of whole natural foods and are carrying many more of these items.

Many of the stores have even designated a segment of the store for whole and natural foods. Shopping at your local farmers market is an additional great choice besides your local grocer. Farmers markets are becoming more and more regular, specially in urban areas, as people are becoming more aware of the importance of eating all natural foods. Also buying local is much greener and contributes to the eventual goal of sustainability.

So now that you’ve located a store that carries these all natural foods that we keep talking about, so when you go shopping what precisely do you buy? Well first you’ll should to get into the habit of reading the labels. The nutritional facts are crucial, but not the only thing we must pay attention to. We need to concentrate on ingredients as well. Here is a list of terms that if included in the ingredients automatically make it NOT all natural: Refined, Bleached, Enriched, Milled, Partially or Fully Hydrogenated Oils, Artificial Sweeteners, Coloring, or Filling. What you’ll find discerning is how many foods in the store do contain these words in their ingredients.

Refined sugar and table salt are often difficult to avoid, but sugar and salt do exist in a natural state like honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, cane sugar and sea salt accordingly. Foods in packaging or boxes are more often than not processed in order to prolong its shelf life. So make sure you’re picking up that box and looking at the ingredient list. Another significant and handy factoid is that the order the ingredients is in the order of their quantity. The number one ingredient makes up the highest percentage of the product and continues in descending order.

So what are some high-quality examples of all natural whole foods? All vegetables and fruit in their natural state (not canned) are good. Unprocessed meats are also a wonderful source of protein which can be purchased at your local butcher. 100% whole wheat bread products (Ezekiel and Vogel are two of my favorites) and whole grain rice are a couple more. For the most part items that say ‘instant’ or ‘quick’ ordinarily have been processed in one way or another to make them cook more rapidly. Just try to imagine how that food is cultivated in its natural form and try to get as near to that as achievable.

So after all things considered, getting your diet to be all natural doesn’t restrict you that much. With that said, it is also imperative to be conscious that just eating all natural whole foods does not inevitably equate to weight loss.

All natural foods can still be high in calories and fat, so it is essential to be attentive of that as well. But when you begin eating more all natural and whole foods, there will be an automatic lessening in your sodium and sugar intake just by avoiding all those processed foods. This reduction in sodium and calories will no doubt help you in your weight loss goals.
